While serving personal injury clients for over 36 years is its own reward, I am always honored and humbled to receive recognition from my peers. At this year’s Barrister’s Ball I was presented with the award of Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Clark County Bar Association (CCBA). The award is presented each year to recognize “an outstanding achievement or achievements by an attorney in court,” and it is particularly humbling as this award can go to either a civil or criminal attorney.
Even more than a plaque to hang on the wall, I am so grateful to my colleagues (and sometimes rival counsels) for including the following comments on their nominating forms:
- “Don is never afraid to try the tough cases.”
- “Don is a tireless advocate for his clients.”
- “Don is the ultimate professional and always treats opposing counsel with respect.”
The CCBA puts on the Barrister’s Ball every year as a fundraiser for the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program, which provides free civil justice legal services to low-income people.
